The DFC3 is able to capture vast amounts of digital and non-digital information. The DFC3 is exactly what its name implies: a tool that stores all important business documents digitally so that no document is ever misplaced or lost again.
Paper documents can be directly scanned or faxed into the DFC3. Scanned files can be routed to specific folders within the system, or they can be sent to a general Inbox. Documents can be faxed directly into the firewall protected system.
Once paper documents are scanned into the DFC3, they are indexed by the system. The DFC3 indexes documents through a process called OCR, or Optical Character Recognition. This technology literally reads and remembers every single word of a scanned paper document. Then the OCR engine creates a PDF file out of the scanned document. The PDF file is then searchable not only by file name and metadata, but by any word the document contains.
Our solution for capturing digital information is the DFC Client. This program allows a user to specify multiple files from his or her PC that can be uploaded to the DFC3 in a single upload- otherwise known as a batch upload. Users can also create their own specific schedules that will send batch uploads to the DFC3 on a regular basis. After the schedule is set, the user doesn't need to think about the upload again- it happens automatically.
